Stand for Legal Immigration
Urge Congress to Reinstate Critical Support
Right now, refugees who were legally invited to the United States through the Refugee Admissions Program are facing devastating uncertainty due to recent policy changes. The Executive Order has frozen the Refugee Admissions Program and the vital resettlement funding, leaving legally-resettled families stranded without the resources they were promised.
We need your voice before April 1st. Please sign the petition below to call on our elected leaders to reinstate legal immigration programs and funding – and uphold our nation’s commitment to those seeking safety, stability, and a new beginning.
Petition to
Restore Programs, Funding & Support
for Legal Immigration in the U.S.
To: Senator Jon Husted, United States Senate
To: Senator Bernie Moreno, United States Senate
To: Representative Emilia Sykes, United States House of Representatives
I, the undersigned, call upon you – my elected representative – to take immediate action to protect and restore support for immigrants who have been legally admitted to the United States. The recent Executive Order suspending federal refugee resettlement programs and funding has placed thousands—including families already living in Greater Akron—in a dangerous state of uncertainty.
As a nation built on compassion and opportunity, we must uphold our promise to welcome those legally seeking safety and stability.
As your constituent, I urge you to take action and support policies that uphold the dignity and well-being of legal immigrants by:
- Reinstating the Refugee Admission Program – reopen the pathway for legal immigration.
- Reinstating financial support for refugees who were invited to the United States through the Refugee Admissions Program.
- Continuing support for Special Immigrant Visa Holders, ensuring the U.S. upholds its promises to those who risked their lives assisting American forces in Afghanistan.
- Protecting Humanitarian Parolee Status for refugees from Afghanistan, Ukraine, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Haiti.
- Restoring funding for long-term refugee services, ensuring that individuals beyond their initial 90 days of resettlement have access to critical resources.
- Supporting public-private refugee partnerships, allowing faith-based organizations and community groups to continue assisting refugees in rebuilding their lives.
- Encouraging compassionate policies that uphold the dignity of displaced individuals and provide them with opportunities to thrive.
The United States has long been a beacon of hope and refuge for those fleeing war, persecution, and violence. I urge you to act with urgency to ensure that this legacy of compassion and justice remains intact.
